Wanna Go Racing?
Written by D Hart

Do you like what you see on Flatheadmeltdown.com?  Got a flathead-powered car?  Want to race?

The rules are very simple:

  • Your car must have a flathead (sidevalve) engine and be capable of completing a cruise to the nearest pub/petrol station/curry house (whichever we choose on the day).
  • No OHV or OHC conversions can compete in the Meltdown (but if anyone has such a beast...Ardun, Cragar, Riley etc, you are welcome to run alongside on a 'demonstration' basis).
  • Pretty much anything else goes, to be honest.  Slicks, nitrous, race fuel, a big poo before racing...as long as rule No.1 is adhered to, you're good to go.
  • Your car must have a seat belt (lap belt is okay) and a radiator catch can.  Drivers MUST wear a helmet and full sleeves and trousers (no T-shirts or shorts).  Roadster drivers MUST wear gloves.  These are the rules of the track and must be obeyed. Your car will be scrutineered at the track.

If you're happy with all that and want to take part, send us an email to info(at)flatheadmeltdown.com
